NIEM
The National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) is a data exchange standard, developed with US government agencies, that defines a common vocabulary for information shared between organizations.
Context
It began in justice and public safety and is used well beyond them. A message format says what a report looks like. A data model says what its elements mean. A system that shares information across organizations usually needs both. The NIEM site is the authority.
How Gridnorth handles it
