COIE
Character-Oriented Information Exchange (COIE) is the slash-delimited plain-text carrier for structured messages built under ADatP-3.
Context
It was built for teletypewriters and slow serial links, it is compact, and it remains in use partly for that reason. It also depends on position: a missing slash or an unexpected character can stop a message from parsing, and because there is no standard schema language, each application carries its own validation logic.
How Gridnorth handles it
Gridnorth renders and parses COIE alongside MTF-XML, so units still on legacy systems can take part. Both are produced from the same confirmed record.
