Constrained decoding
Constrained decoding limits a language model, at every step of generating text, to the tokens that the required format allows.
Context
Because the model can only pick allowed tokens, the output always has the required shape. It says nothing about whether the values are right. Constrained decoding explained goes through how it works and where it stops.
How Gridnorth handles it
Gridnorth constrains the model to the target message definition. In the laboratory evaluation, 100% of outputs were structurally valid, against 60.8% for the same model without the constraint.
